Our latest interview features the talented Leo from Motioncan who is based in Siberia, Russia. Leo is passionate about motion design and never stops learning and drawing inspiration from artists and creatives all over the world.
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Leo, I am 21 and I live in Siberia, Russia. I am the person behind Motioncan. I love to play musical instruments, especially the drums.
Motion design is my passion, and I am lucky enough for it to be both my hobby and my job.
I first heard about Envato right after I graduated from school, and decided to give it a go. My family didn’t have enough money for me to go to art school, but through my work on Envato, I was able to earn enough money to live my dream and go to college.
To what do you attribute your success – how is your business unique?
I attribute my success on Envato to my constant drive to keep improving and ensuring that the quality of my work is always the best it can be.
As soon as I finished my first project on Envato, I started another. The more I did, the higher quality my work became. Various online courses and lessons on motion design were of great help, but practical work was more important in this respect.
In my opinion, the most important thing is making sure that every detail is high quality.
What do you love about your work and why?
I love the project creation process very much and enjoy every step, from sketching to animation.
I love the artistic freedom and fast development of my skills that I get from working with Envato.

What is the most challenging aspect of your work?
I almost always work alone, so creating large projects can take a lot of time.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the fact that thousands of people can improve and simplify the quality of their videos, presentations and advertisements by using my work!
What is your advice to other authors regarding how to create a successful portfolio?
I would tell people that they should make sure that they are keeping on top of the latest trends. Watch trending videos, animations and graphics every day. Follow the top authors, and then over time you will upgrade your skills!
Who is your favorite market Author?
I have several favorite authors. However, one of my favorites is Planky. His works are very beautiful and they always help me to get inspiration for new ideas!
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to further improve my skills and develop in Motion Design, constantly raising the bar for the quality of my future projects. I would also love to move to Europe or America one day to expand the opportunities for myself.
